Workshops

In the second stage of the project we will conduct a number of collaborative workshops which will steer the direction of the research.

These will be informed by the ideas, opinions and attitudes to Scots shared with us through the initial public survey

In the course of 2021, we will bring together linguists and stakeholders to discuss the results of the public survey and focus on themes that can have a significant impact on the future of the Scots language:

  • Education
  • Media
  • Arts and culture
  • Policy-making

If you have any questions about the workshops, please use our contact form.

The workshops will culminate in a final symposium bringing the research themes together and drawing on expertise and experience of other minority languages from around the world. Using the research and evidence built up over 2021, we will lay groundwork for a consensus on what the future of Scots could be, and what will be required to make it happen—setting a new agenda towards a community-driven language policy for Scots.
